Today I did another quick and easy sketch. It turned out really well I believe. I sort of want to own a couple of goats someday on a little bit of land. Nothing too big, maybe a couple of acres or so. I absolutely adore animals, and I would not mind also owning a pig or two. Today was filled with note-taking and Minecraft. The sheep in this picture seems to be making some sort of call.
I am a graphic design student, but my artistic roots started with good ol' pen and pencil sketches. I have decided to get back on track, and to hone my artistic skills. This blog began as a drawing-a-day blog, but I've decided that it would be best to convert it to a showcase of my drawings. I've included some select works about the page that I have created at other times to demonstrate my work so far. I hope you do enjoy it. My name is Ashlynn, and I am an artist.

Two-point Perspective Building
To fool around with two-point perspective a bit, today I sketched a shady-looking building in the middle of nowhere. I didn't add much detail around the building, but I would have just put in sparse grass and dirt. There's a little bit of a dirt driveway leading up to the large door on the side. I imagine it would just be some sort of strange little garage. There's some nice mountains and a little house in the background as well, just for some atmosphere. I like it. It's simple, quaint, and gets the point across.

Working with Perspective: Shapes
Today I took a bit of an interlude from the random drawing ideas to practice some perspective drawing. This exercised is with a one-point perspective, and the vanishing point is on a horizon line about halfway up the page. I may do another tomorrow, perhaps a two-point perspective with a building. This particular drawing is an exercise that I did in my Art I class. I decided to throw in some circles and triangles just to sort of play around with it a bit. It is also a good exercise to work with some light and easy shading.

Toad Cowboy
Without a doubt, this is the best free hand picture that I have ever done from my own mind. I've always struggled to draw things from memory alone. This project is most definitely helping me to think outside of the box and to develop things that I never would have before. I was giggling the whole time I did this picture. It's about as accurate as I could get, and I think I captured the chubby toad look and anatomy pretty darn well. Look out folks, there is a new sheriff in town.

Hammerhead Shark Tea Party
Today's drawing is of three sharks having a tea party. Two of them are hammerhead sharks, and one is just a generic shark that I drew up. Why? I like diversity in my drawings. Hammerheads are friends with other sharks, too. Over the next couple of weeks, the drawings will be quite random, like this one. I was going through a list of random words, and paired some together, creating a list of drawing ideas. I've been struggling with drawing my own material. I began as an artist that would draw from sight, copying pictures of my favorite characters and such.
On another note, I really love sharks. They are very majestic creatures. I really would love to swim with them someday. I am not much of a thrill-seeker, and I feel I would be safe cage-diving with some. It is one of those things that should go on a bucket list. There is a song about sharks that I really like. It is titled "Haifisch" which means shark, in German. It is a song by Rammstein. They are a German band that I really like. I'm excited about this project already! I cannot wait to post another drawing tomorrow.
