Octillord

This is my submission to the contest on DeviantArt

The contest is to design a mascot for the group, a Pokemon, naturally. I decided to go with Octillery because he's a super cool Pokemon with a simple design.

His name is Octillord, and he likes to think of himself as Pokemon royalty. He rules his undersea kingdom with absolutely no authority and a silly mustache.

Alec

Alec is a character that I created for an RP. He's a Russian Blue, university student, 22 years old. As you can see, he's very lean and muscular. He works hard to keep his form, getting some sort of exercise every day. He lives alone in an apartment near the campus, spending a lot of his spare time studying and working part-time.

Some more art!

So I have been slow on posting things on here. I keep forgetting that it exists, but I guess people are seeing it because it has 1,400 views! Yippee!

Alright, there's a batch of some Pokemon. Ampharos has always been one of my favorites.  I've also just started playing Pokemon White version and it's a lot of fun.

It’s finally freaking done. T_T

Sorry for the delay, folks. There’s been a lot going on in my life and it’s been a long time before I’ve even sat down and done anything artistic. This truly is one of my best works. It took several months for me to get around to finishing it. I decided a while ago that I wanted to try to do some pics of my favorite Pokemon teams across the various generations.

I’m not going to go into detail with names or moves or any of that. I merely want to show my favorites from the generations I’m familiar with. That’s me there, in the middle :D The background is just something fun. I like to have at least some kind of backdrop.

I’ll get working on the next one soon enough. I’ve just been busy working and trying to find the motivation. I’ve been feeling better lately. I try to be productive. I do hope you enjoy this.

Nightshade

Today I'm feeling pretty good about myself. I had a job interview at Staples. I originally applied for a cashier position, but after finding out I'm an artist, the manager said I'd probably like their copy and print center position. I'm going in to meet with the general manager.

I sat down with all of these amazing feelings and went "I feel like doing some amazing pixel art. I'll admit, it's not the greatest thing in the world - but when I sat down and started working on this, I totally blew myself away. I love how this character turned out! I'm going to name him Nightshade.

I think it's a simple enough design that I can do some other pieces featuring him. I haven't done pixel art in a long time. In truth, I kind of like it better than digital painting >.> I came up with the color scheme in my head before I did it, but I didn't know what color I wanted his eyes to be. I do love how the blue turned out. Let me know what you think!

Pokemon Double Feature

So I like Pokemon. I had a little art block for a while, but it's cleared up now. These were just two quick pieces because I wanted to do something fun and I was bored ._." I'll see if I want to start work on a bigger piece soon. Maybe I'll make myself a favorite Pokemon team. Oh, and I did my first photomanipulation, you can find it here: http://clairesable.deviantart.com/art/The-Door-in-the-Forest-313082170 .

Roaring Lion

This design was more of a test to myself to see what I could do based on a photograph. I had found a random stock photo of a lion roaring, and worked from there. It was a challenge to decide which parts to designate as shadow and light, black and white, because that's not the way that things work in real life. I put it on some things in my CafePress shop: http://www.cafepress.com/subtlepleasures

Pervy Face Finn

Don't ask. Seriously. I was laying in bed last night, and I kept seeing Finn having a pervy face. So I did it. Paint tool SAI, then made the background transparent with Gimp. Finn is copyright of Cartoon Network c:

Aaaaaaaaaaaadventure Time!

JAKE THE DOG AND FINN THE HU-MAN

So this is the first time I've really done any original fanart. Most of the time, when I do fanart, it's drawing a character exactly as I see them. But yesterday I sat down and sketched this out and THIS IS THE GREATEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME. I had to give Finn that ridiculous expression. It was only fitting. I am absolutely in love with what I've done here. It took maybe a couple hours in Paint Tool SAI with my Bamboo Craft tablet. I used a couple of reference pictures of the characters and the land where they live. I was going to put the tree house in the background but that would have added a lot of work onto it.

Oh, Finn and Jake are copyright of whoever etc. etc.

But this piece is copyright of me, because it's all mine, bwahaha.

The Thing in the Forest

I am incredibly proud of this picture. It probably took me closer to ten hours to make in Photoshop. I have started to put a watermark on my art just for my own benefit. Anyway, this picture was inspired late one night when my mind would not stop working. I took those random bouncing thoughts and came up with drawing ideas.

Claireice Line Art

It's finally finished... this is something that I started a long time ago. This is Claireice, my original character. It was originally done on Photoshop, imported to Illustrator and stroked. I gave her a lot of attitude and a rocking outfit. I think she turned out sexy and amazing. Next I'll work on coloring it.

Cute Creature Double Feature

Okay, I went a little overboard today. These are both designs that I created to put on children's clothing on my CafePress shop, which can be found here: http://www.cafepress.com/adashofinteresting. I've been getting a little more inspired lately. I can literally do one of these for almost any animal, and I figure, if I make enough of these cute little things, people will buy them!

Panther and Weasel

I was spontaneously really bored today and thought that I would draw another picture. I wanted to draw a picture of my friend and I with our mis-matched characters. I take on the form of a little black weasel, and he's a big playful panther. I just think we're a funny pair. On a completely unrelated note, I have a little shop set up: http://www.cafepress.com/adashofinteresting

Panther Tribal Tattoo

Today I was talking to some folks on the net about various tattoos that I want to get, and I realized that I need to line up some designs for when I want to get tattoos. I feel it would be more personal to me to make my own designs, based off of images that I like and are significant to me. I've developed a fondness for panthers, due to a close furry friend of mine. He's a whole lot of fun, and he's a good friend to me. I loved the image that I based this off of. The pose is just so relaxed. Made with Photoshop. It's a little messy, but that doesn't matter to me.

Warrior Girl

It has been a considerable amount of time since I posted my last photo. Well, I decided to pick up again, and I didn't quite know what I wanted to do at first. I've had a few strong images floating around in my mind, and many of them are not appropriate in the slightest. I still want to keep this blog relatively clean. Nothing really new has happened in my life. I've just been working and trying to get all of my homework done within the allotted time. I plan to take the entire summer semester off and come back in October. That will give me some time to work and possibly even try to get my license. This image has no particular meaning. It was just a really fast doodle that actually turned into a nice concept. I'm happy with the edginess of it. I've always loved really strong female characters. It's one of the reasons why the main character of my novel is a woman.

Foxy?

I think this looks more like a fox than anything else. It is definitely canine, in any case. I wanted to do a leisurely, somewhat sexy position for this figure. I think it went over pretty well.

Forest Nymph Final

Here is the finished picture! I wanted to do something more with the background, but I couldn't think of anything at the time, and I need to work on my homework. I think she's absolutely stunning. She has a sort of forlorn air about her.

Canine Shaman

I had the horrible realization this morning that I did not draw yesterday. It wasn't that I didn't want to, it was that I had a really weird napping schedule going on. I worked from 9am to 3pm, which required me to wake up at 6:30 am. This was a major adjustment, and by the time I got home from work, all I wanted to do was sleep some more. I ended up napping an hour, waking up, napping another hour, then intending to stay awake; I slept from then until 3:30 am and decided just to sleep the rest of the night. To compensate for this, I will do two drawings today.
Now, onto the picture. I just started out wanting to draw something that was canine-esque in form. He looks to be some sort of shaman, because he has a staff and some pouches at his waist. I never usually have a clear idea of what I want a picture to be like when I draw it. I just go for it and see what happens. My boyfriend said that it looks sort of Egyptian-like, and I guess I can see that in this picture.

Stallion Lineart

Today I really had it in my mind that I wanted to do a digital design for today's blog post. I played with a few ideas, and finally ended up choosing to do a line art of a stallion. I love horses, and after doing a little research on different types of breeds, I settled on the Clydesdale. It is a rather large breed, and it has the long hair covering the hooves and legs that I really like. I think this is an absolutely beautiful breed. I may add color to this in the future. Reference image an be found, here.

Wolf

Now, don't be mislead by the title of this post. I know that I did not do sketches of a wolf. These are sketches that I did of our Boxer, Wolfgang - or Wolf, for short. I don't draw animals from reference as often as I should, and for some reason I really wanted to draw his paws today. The small notes written on the picture are descriptions of what paw, etc. There's a little blurb about Wolf, as well. He's about five years old, I think. He's really big for a boxer. I don't mean that he is obese; I mean that he is large. He's big-boned and muscular. I would guess that he weighs around 100 pounds.
On another note: it is Day 50, and I have 500 pageviews! Wow. I never thought that I would get to this point. I have no idea who checks my blog every day, because most of them probably don't want to create an account to follow my blog. However, if you are a regular viewer, and you are reading this, I will encourage you to take the little bit of time to sign up and follow my blog, so that I can see who you are :) I will thank you greatly afterwards. I still have 315 days to go and I never thought I would have so many views at this point.

Ms. Sable Herself

This is an illustration of the main character of my novel, Days of a Demon, that I am working on editing one final time before I can put it out on the market. I did the honor of posting the content of the back cover here, so that you can get a feel of what the book is about, and the story behind the character. As stated, she is a demon. This feisty femme boasts sleek, somewhat wavy raven hair, and bright crimson eyes. These are traits passed down through her family. She has an interesting style of dress. She adopted a gothic/Victorian sort of style from her parents, but has slowly begun to develop more of her own style after living alongside the mortals for so long.

Tender Memories

"And that's when I first saw her..."

This one actually started out as a personal drawing, and I didn't think that it was going to turn out this well.I had already drawn something for the day, but didn't like it. Well, here it is. The girl in the picture there is me. The other character is an anthro character from a little personal fable that will not be mentioned. His left shoulder sports a fresh, open wound.

Playful Panther

What can I say? I love panthers. There's nothing like imagining one acting like a common playful canine :) A very good friend of mine tends to take on a playful feral form that I adore. I am still waiting to hear back from Lowe's about the position that I interviewed for. I have my fingers crossed. Made this picture on GIMP, with a reference picture of a dog in that pose.

Mischievous Creature

This was a fun one to make. I just sat down, and decided that I wanted to do some digital art. I've been doing a lot of animals/anthro/creatures lately. I absolutely love making creatures. Just from the way this one is colored, and the different parts of its anatomy would suggest that it's some sort of semi-aquatic creature. I called it mischievous, because it has that sort of facial expression. Made with GIMP 2.6.

Reptile

I think I've outdone myself with this picture. My boyfriend was happy when the scan got down to the hips and there were no genitals there. I said "Uhhh... I could draw something there." and he replied with a nervous laugh. Today just happened to be one of those days when I drew with a purpose. I laid out this lanky-looking reptilian figure with a very confident pose. I've noticed lately that I have a knack for drawing figures that have attitude and swagger. I made it have sort of an anthro-like body. He seems to be exuding a devil-may-care attitude that is just amazing to witness. The feet were cut out of this picture, and I'm sort of glad, because I didn't really like them anyhow.

Warrior

I honestly have to say that I have been improving a lot on my free-hand sketching. At this time a month ago, I would have sat down with my notebook and drawn something way less than impressive. Now, I can sit down with a loose idea of a drawing, and come up with something beautiful in less than an hour. I am very, very proud of myself. This character is a warrior - reminiscent of a Greek or Roman gladiator. I would have liked to put a canine at his side, but I'm not quite ready to move on to more complicated pictures yet. I decided that I want to put a name to the face, so I am giving him the name Thebias (Thee Bee Us). He's very fierce-looking, and I am very pleased. He has some sort of fancy buckler on one hand because for some reason I don't like to draw both hands. The sword is a short sword - easy for quick striking, but can still keep the enemy at a distance.

Mother's Arms

Well, it's been about a month since I started this blog. I feel that perhaps those that read are starting to get a feel of who I am and what I stand for. I really cannot wait to be a mother in the future. It is just something that I have been looking forward to in my life. I love children. There's just something about the simple joy they find in the smallest of things that warms your heart. This design sort of captures the essence of the warmth and comfort in a mother's arms. It has sort of an Asian feel to it and I feel that it could also make a good tattoo. In case anyone was wondering, the swirls are supposed to suggest that she's wearing a dress.

Warriors of the Sun Tattoo Design

Yes! I even gave this one a nice, fitting title. I just had this idea when I was cleaning the shower this morning. I just had a little vision of warriors running before a rising sun, and I thought it turned out wonderfully.

Tribal Dog Design

This is my first attempt ever at making a tribal tattoo design. It is quite simple, just so I could get the feel of it. I didn't use any references, and I am surprised. I think it looks really nice. I have one tattoo, myself. It's a panda design that I found somewhere on Google. I want to be able to create my own tattoo designs for the future, when I want to get more. I also want to be able to make designs that other people will appreciate, and will actually want to have put on their body permanently. I know that at one point, my mom said that being a tattoo artist on my spare time would be a good way to earn money. I'm not quite THAT confident in my abilities yet. I can copy other pictures amazingly, but usually when it comes to taking an idea and making my own rendition of it, it doesn't turn out well. This blog has been helping with that amazingly.

Gorilla Mermaid

My gorilla looks a little strange, but I will assure you now, that is what it is. My boyfriend was scanning the image for me today, and he says "What the hell did you draw?" What can I say? I'm quirky.

Sleepy Panther

First thing is first: I love panthers. I have a friend that is really into them, and that is just sort of rubbing off on me. They're just so cuddly looking, but beyond that, they are fierce and majestic creatures. They are a symbol of the wild, and all of the power that it contains. They rule the jungle and have been worshiped for many many years. <3 my panther.

Velociraptor Doctor

This is a velociraptor. He also happens to be a doctor. Dangerous? I think not. If he has to perform any on-the-spot surgeries, he has the perfect tools right on the ends of his cute little arms. Sort of reminds me of Dr. McNinja. It was going to be a dentist, but then I put that weird circular thing on top of its head and decided it was going to be a doctor. He also has a stethoscope hanging around his neck. On another note, I love dinosaurs. They are awesome.

Caveman Nurse

Or should I say cavewoman? In any case, I am not accustomed to sketching primitive beings, but I tried to make her look more ape-like than anything. I am almost halfway through the list of random ideas that I compiled. I guess I'll either make another one after that, or I will have to start taking some suggestions. Today I got the last of my W-2's from this year. I worked in three different places, which makes me a little sad considering that I am now unemployed. I'm sure that something will come my way soon. I just have to stay positive! The good news is that my parents will be sending some money my way once they get their tax returns. I doubt it will be enough to get a new laptop, but I can always get something else that's nice.
On the subject of tax time - it has always been a special time for my family. I grew up in a home where my parents did not earn enough to afford a very luxurious life. Tax returns were like a second Christmas for us. We always got to do something nice. Since I moved away, my mom is sending me money that would have been spent on my Christmas and birthday presents. She said to get myself something nice, and dammit, I will.

Alfred

This was a very emotionally touching experience for me to draw these pictures. This is my cat, Alfred. He is almost three years old. I drew these pictures because I miss him very dearly. When I moved out of my parents' house in California, he stayed behind with his two sisters. It was easier, and I knew he would be happier that way. He weighs about 15 pounds, which is very hefty for a cat his size. Alfred has the biggest personality that I have ever seen in a cat. He is very strange though. His favorite things to eat are plastic, cardboard, and treats, of course. Often when he is wandering around the house, we take the treat bag and shake it, and then he comes thundering into the room. He loves to sleep inside of drawers, boxes, and cabinets. Every year he likes to sleep under the Christmas tree and eat the tinsel. Alfred sleeps almost all day, and is the most nonchalant cat in the world. He's so lazy, you can pick him up and carry him anywhere, and he doesn't mind. The sketch on the top is him spying on the snake that I used to have before it escaped. The bottom is him doing his favorite thing in the world.

Sheep Referee

Today I did another quick and easy sketch. It turned out really well I believe. I sort of want to own a couple of goats someday on a little bit of land. Nothing too big, maybe a couple of acres or so. I absolutely adore animals, and I would not mind also owning a pig or two. Today was filled with note-taking and Minecraft. The sheep in this picture seems to be making some sort of call.

Two-point Perspective Building

To fool around with two-point perspective a bit, today I sketched a shady-looking building in the middle of nowhere. I didn't add much detail around the building, but I would have just put in sparse grass and dirt. There's a little bit of a dirt driveway leading up to the large door on the side. I imagine it would just be some sort of strange little garage. There's some nice mountains and a little house in the background as well, just for some atmosphere. I like it. It's simple, quaint, and gets the point across.

Working with Perspective: Shapes

Today I took a bit of an interlude from the random drawing ideas to practice some perspective drawing. This exercised is with a one-point perspective, and the vanishing point is on a horizon line about halfway up the page. I may do another tomorrow, perhaps a two-point perspective with a building. This particular drawing is an exercise that I did in my Art I class. I decided to throw in some circles and triangles just to sort of play around with it a bit. It is also a good exercise to work with some light and easy shading.

Toad Cowboy

Without a doubt, this is the best free hand picture that I have ever done from my own mind. I've always struggled to draw things from memory alone. This project is most definitely helping me to think outside of the box and to develop things that I never would have before. I was giggling the whole time I did this picture. It's about as accurate as I could get, and I think I captured the chubby toad look and anatomy pretty darn well. Look out folks, there is a new sheriff in town.

Hammerhead Shark Tea Party

Today's drawing is of three sharks having a tea party. Two of them are hammerhead sharks, and one is just a generic shark that I drew up. Why? I like diversity in my drawings. Hammerheads are friends with other sharks, too. Over the next couple of weeks, the drawings will be quite random, like this one. I was going through a list of random words, and paired some together, creating a list of drawing ideas. I've been struggling with drawing my own material. I began as an artist that would draw from sight, copying pictures of my favorite characters and such.
On another note, I really love sharks. They are very majestic creatures. I really would love to swim with them someday. I am not much of a thrill-seeker, and I feel I would be safe cage-diving with some. It is one of those things that should go on a bucket list. There is a song about sharks that I really like. It is titled "Haifisch" which means shark, in German. It is a song by Rammstein. They are a German band that I really like. I'm excited about this project already! I cannot wait to post another drawing tomorrow.
